What you're looking at
Dialed Industries (DYLD) is a Gilbert, Arizona apparel, accessories and car-care shop that runs its car giveaways as numbered DIGs, with entries attached to store purchases. The prize for DIG 008 is a 1996 Suzuki Jimny plus $4,000 cash. Dialed's photos show an olive-green, right-hand-drive example on black wheels and chunky off-road tires, with a tube front bumper and winch, a roof rack, a hood scoop and a hard cover over the rear-mounted spare. Inside, the seats wear blue patterned cloth.
What the page doesn't list is the variant, engine or mileage. In 1996 Japan the Jimny was sold both as a 660cc turbocharged kei-class model and as the 1.3-liter Jimny Sierra, so those gaps decide which Jimny you'd actually be driving.
Why it matters
The second-generation Jimny (1981–1998) is the generation that made Suzuki's little 4x4 a worldwide cult: a ladder frame, solid axles at both ends and part-time four-wheel drive with a low range, in a body narrow enough to squeeze down trails that stop full-size rigs. Americans got a version of it as the Samurai until the mid-1990s, but the 1990s Jimny was built for Japan, so any on American roads arrived as a private import, legal once it turned 25. Suzuki doesn't sell today's Jimny here either, which is a big part of the nameplate's cult following.
The reality check is the usual one for a 30-year-old Japanese 4x4. Rust in the frame, floors and body seams is the first thing to look at, parts for Japan-only variants may have to come from overseas, small-displacement Jimnys are happiest below highway speeds, and right-hand drive takes practice at drive-throughs and toll booths. Dialed runs its own drawings (the rules say "The Sweepstakes is administered by Sponsor."), and its homepage lists first-name, last-initial winners for DIG 001 through DIG 006.
The fine print worth knowing
- Titling and road use. The rules say "The prize vehicle may not meet federal or state importation, safety, or emissions standards, and may not be titleable, registerable, or legal for on-road use in all jurisdictions." Checking is left to the winner: "Winner is solely responsible for confirming the titling, registration, importation, emissions, and safety inspection requirements applicable in their state and county prior to accepting the prize." The winner must also "transfer title with their state DMV within ten (10) days of accepting the prize." The rules don't say what happens if a winner's state won't title the Jimny, and they state "No substitution or transfer of the prize by the winner will be permitted." The clause exists because Japanese-market imports register easily in some states and not in others.
- What arrives, and the tax bill. The Jimny is valued "at approximately $11,000" and the total ARV is $15,000, cash included. The rules say "Sponsor will issue an IRS Form 1099 in the name of the winner for the value of the prize." The car is awarded "AS IS, WHERE IS" and the winner pays "all title, license, registration, taxes, insurance, transportation, and delivery costs." If the prize's actual value comes in under the ARV, "the difference will not be awarded." The sponsor also "reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value."
- The free route. Get a unique Entry Code from Dialed's online form, then hand-write it with your details on a 3 x 5 card and mail it. Each card "receives twenty (20) entries." Two timing details stand out. The postmark deadline, October 12, 2026, is Columbus Day, a federal holiday, and the rules say that when "a postmark date falls on a Sunday or federal holiday, the mail-in entry must be postmarked on the following business day" without saying whether that moves this deadline. Cards may arrive as late as October 17, but the drawing is set for "on or about October 14, 2026," and the rules don't say how cards that arrive after it are handled.
- Paid entries vs. a card. Purchases earn entries "based on purchase amount and promotional offers as disclosed on the Website at the time of purchase." On September 30 the cheapest Quick Entry package was $25 for 5,000 entries (a 200X multiplier), and the store also sold "Cart Multiplier" add-ons from $25. The rules say mail-in entries "will receive the standard entry allocation described in the Alternate Method of Entry section" and that for a card postmarked during "an announced bonus entry period," the entrant "must write the applicable multiplier on the backside of the envelope to signify the bonus period being entered." They don't spell out how many entries such a card earns.
- Winner conditions. Paperwork, including an Affidavit that asks for a Social Security Number, is due "within seven (7) days of the date notice or attempted notice is sent," and a potential winner who can't be reached or doesn't follow notification instructions "within three (3) business days from the first notification attempt" can be disqualified. Taking delivery requires "proof of a valid USA driver’s license from his or her state of residence." Disputes must be "resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action," in an Oklahoma court.

Why It's Special
Second-generation (1981–1998) Jimny. This generation reached the US only as the Samurai, sold until the mid-1990s; 1990s Jimnys were Japanese-market models, so any in the US arrived as private imports, legal once they turned 25.
Our value estimate
$11,000
Anchored to Dialed's own number: the rules value the Jimny "at approximately $11,000" inside a $15,000 total ARV, with the $4,000 cash counted separately. Recent sales of second-generation (1981–1998) Jimnys have mostly landed lower: a 1995 turbo five-speed sold for $7,000 on Cars & Bids on September 29, 2026, a 1996 JA22W brought $5,200 on Hagerty Marketplace in November 2025, and a 1996 sold for $3,999 in August 2025. At the top end, a 1996 JA22W showing 82,000 km (about 51,000 miles) made $10,000 on Bring a Trailer in August 2024. The winch, tube bumper, roof rack and wheel-and-tire package in Dialed's photos account for part of the gap. The odometer reading and exact variant aren't listed, so no mileage band could be applied, and either would move this figure. So would the rules' warning that the Jimny "may not be titleable, registerable, or legal for on-road use in all jurisdictions."
