Gas Powered Junk has run this truck-plus-Dyna formula for years — the last one paired a 2002 SVT Lightning with a 2003 FXDL — and this round swaps the Ford for a GMT800 half-ton.

The Sierra is the canvas. The 1999–2006 GMT800 is arguably the most modified American pickup platform ever built: cheap, everywhere, LS-family V8s under the hood, and an aftermarket deep enough to take one from mild street truck to something considerably angrier. What the operator hasn't published is the specific recipe — there's no build sheet, no odometer reading, no engine callout and no colour listed anywhere in the giveaway page or the official rules. "Customized" is doing a lot of work in that sentence, and how much this prize is really worth turns almost entirely on what's under the hood and what the rockers look like.

The bike is the half enthusiasts will clock immediately. The FXDX Dyna Super Glide Sport was Harley's genuine attempt at a sporting Dyna: 1450cc Twin Cam 88, fully adjustable suspension at both ends, twin front discs and more cornering clearance than anything else in the Dyna line. It only ran about six model years and never sold in Softail volume, which is why the FXDX has quietly become the Dyna that people actively search for rather than stumble into.

Why it matters

Most giveaway prizes are a new truck off a dealer lot with a window sticker attached. This one is a pair of hand-built 26-year-old vehicles from an operator whose entire identity is old pushrod trucks and Twin Cam Dynas — and that shows in the prize selection. The FXDX in particular is a bike you can't just go order; the good ones trade privately and get snapped up.

It's also worth noting that this operator has a public, named winners list going back more than twenty drawings, complete with hometowns — Andy Sproul in Sacramento for the SVT Lightning and FXDL pair, Jason Larsen in Mansfield, Connecticut for a supercharged 2015 Sierra and a 2016 FXDL, and so on down the line. In a category full of anonymous operators who have never produced a winner, a checkable track record is not nothing.

The fine print worth knowing

The stated ARV is $32,000 for the pair, and the winner can take $20,000 cash instead — a real option worth thinking about, since it's the operator's own liquid number for the package. The prize is delivered "AS IS," and the rules put title, license, insurance, registration, applicable taxes, and all travel and transport costs of collecting the vehicles on the winner. Budget for that before you daydream about the driveway.

On condition: a 26-year-old half-ton lives and dies on cab corners, rockers and how kindly the 4L60E was treated, and a Twin Cam of this vintage wants its cam chain tensioners inspected. Neither vehicle's history is published, so go in with your eyes open.

Entry mechanics are unusually transparent for this corner of the market. Base rate is one entry per whole dollar spent in the shop, doubled to two per dollar on the quick-entry packages, with announced bonus periods multiplying that by anywhere from 2x up to 400x. Critically, the free route scales with the same multiplier: a mailed 3x5 card is worth 20 entries at base and up to 8,000 during a bonus period, which works out to roughly the same value as $10 of quick-entry spend no matter what multiplier is live. That's genuine parity, not a token free door.
