The build
The Hunt and Company — TJ Hunt's shop in Escondido — bought this BNR34 in stock configuration and is converting it into a giveaway car on camera. The practical effect is that the parts list is public and the dyno sheet is not.
Breathing is all HKS: a GTIII-SS turbo kit with matching turbo outlets, front pipe and lower piping, a racing chamber kit, intake, blow-off valve and the Super Turbo exhaust, fed by an HKS front-mount intercooler and managed by a Haltech Nexus R3 standalone. That is a coherent package rather than a parts-bin stack. The GTIII-SS is the sensible, streetable answer for an RB26 that still has to idle in traffic and start on a cold morning, and the Nexus R3 is the right ECU to make the whole thing behave rather than just make numbers.
Bodywork is AllStreet carbon throughout — hood, fenders, front bumper, splitter, wing blade and risers, plus a carbon airbox, Y-pipe and exhaust shield. Suspension is HKS coilovers with Whiteline bars front and rear and a full bushing kit, which is the unglamorous half of the build and usually the half that decides whether a 27-year-old chassis feels tight or tired.
No horsepower figure has been published, and until the car is finished there won't be a credible one. An RB26 on a GTIII-SS kit and a standalone can land anywhere from comfortably healthy to "this wants a built bottom end," depending entirely on boost target and how brave the tuner is feeling.
Why an R34 is worth caring about
1999 is the year that matters. It is the first model year of the BNR34, and it is the first R34 GT-R to clear the US 25-year import exemption — 1999-built cars only began landing legally here in 2024. That is the whole reason a US company can hand one to a winner with a title attached instead of a show-or-display headache.
The marketing calls it a V-Spec, which on a BNR34 means ATTESA E-TS Pro with the active rear differential and a carbon rear diffuser — the version enthusiasts actually chase.
The honest counterweight: a heavily modified R34 is a better car to drive and a worse car to collect. The HKS and AllStreet hardware here represents serious money, but the JDM blue-chip market pays for unmolested, low-mileage originality, and modification almost never returns dollar-for-dollar against a stock car. If you win this one, the right move is to drive it, not to store it waiting for an appreciation curve that rewards a different car.
The fine print worth knowing
Start with the prize description, because the rules are narrower than the ads. Reboot's landing page promises a "1999 NISSAN SKYLINE GT-R-V-spec." The official rules say the winner receives "One (1) used and modified 1999 Nissan GTR (the, "Vehicle"). The ARV of Grand Prize: $170,000." No V-Spec designation, no odometer reading, no colour — and the build is openly still in progress, with the spec list stating the car "was purchased in its stock configuration" and "will be undergoing a full performance and aesthetic transformation." The rules also hold that the prize "is not redeemable for cash, assignable, transferable and may not be substituted except at Sponsor's sole discretion." None of that is unusual for a build-in-progress giveaway — a sponsor cannot legally describe a finished car that isn't finished yet — but it is worth knowing that the V-Spec claim lives in the marketing rather than in the document that governs the drawing.
The car arrives "as is" with no warranty or guarantee, and the winner "will be responsible for any and all costs associated with the collection and use of the Vehicle, including but not limited to, optional equipment, title, license, insurance, registration fees, and applicable taxes." On a $170,000 ARV, the federal tax bill alone is five figures and comes due the April after you win, before you have paid a cent to ship it home or insure a right-hand-drive import. The winner also has five days from notification to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility, and the rules carry a class-action waiver.
Entries accrue at $1 spent = 1 entry across drinkreboot.com and thehuntandcompany.com, so the cheapest buy-in is a $3.99 sample pack for three entries, with double entries during the bonus period that opens October 28. The free route is genuinely worth using here rather than being a legal formality: one hand-printed mail-in entry is worth 56 entries — the equivalent of spending $56 — and 112 during the bonus period, the rules state "All methods of entry have an equal chance of winning," and there is no limit on how many entries a person can receive. The bonus mail window even runs one day longer than purchasing does. The exact address and formatting requirements are printed in the official rules.
One clock discrepancy to note: Reboot's page says entries end at 11:59:59 PM ET on 11/3/26, while the official rules say 11:59:59 PM PT on the same date. The rules govern, so you have three more hours than the landing page implies — but treat the ET time as your deadline and you cannot be caught out.
Eligibility is the 48 contiguous states plus DC, 18+ (19+ in Alabama and Nebraska, 21+ in Mississippi). Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and all other US territories are excluded, which the ads do not mention. The drawing is on or about Wednesday, November 11, 2026, run by US Sweepstakes & Fulfillment Company, a named third-party administrator.

Why It's Special
1999 is the first model year of the BNR34 Skyline GT-R, and it is also the first R34 GT-R to clear the US 25-year import exemption — 1999-built cars only began landing legally on US soil in 2024. That timing is the entire reason a US company can put one in a sweepstakes drum with a title attached instead of a show-or-display workaround. The V-Spec designation used in the marketing adds the ATTESA E-TS Pro all-wheel-drive system with its active rear differential and a carbon rear diffuser over the standard GT-R. The official rules describe the prize only as "One (1) used and modified 1999 Nissan GTR" and do not repeat the V-Spec designation.
Our value estimate
$170,000
The Hunt and Company's official rules state the ARV outright: "One (1) used and modified 1999 Nissan GTR (the, "Vehicle"). The ARV of Grand Prize: $170,000." That sponsor figure is the anchor, and grounding it in comps is harder than usual for one specific reason — no operator page publishes an odometer reading, and a BNR34's value swings enormously on mileage, so there is no way to assemble a set of sales matched within ±10% of this car's miles. Widening to the broader R34 GT-R market: clean V-Spec cars have run roughly the equivalent of $55,000–$105,000 at Japanese auction before shipping, import and federalization costs; a modified 2001 V-Spec II brought £109,500 in the UK in January 2026; and the ceiling is an outlier $549,000 that Hagerty reported for a 10-kilometre museum example. A US-legal, fully imported 1999 V-Spec generally sits in the low-to-mid six figures, driven almost entirely by miles and originality. $170,000 lands sensibly inside that band for a car the sponsor itself calls used and modified. Worth understanding what the modifications do to that number: the HKS and AllStreet hardware on this build costs real money, but on a blue-chip JDM car the market pays for unmolested, low-mileage originality, and mods rarely return dollar-for-dollar against a stock example. We are holding at the sponsor's $170,000 rather than reaching for a market-top figure, because the odometer, the finished power output and the final build spec are all unpublished, and any of the three would move this number in either direction.
