What you're looking at

Fanathem's latest car promotion, run with creator partner Regular Cars, is a black 2007 Subaru Impreza WRX STI sedan in its final Hawkeye-nose form. The operator sums up the front as "Classic 2007 STI styling with a hood scoop, pink STI badging and silver multi-spoke wheels up front", and out back it wears the tall rear wing and a 3-inch catback exhaust.

The other changes the page lists are about heat: "Top mount intercooler, Mishimoto aluminum radiator and GrimmSpeed hoses keep the tuned STI cool". The top-mount intercooler is the GD STI's factory layout, and the page doesn't say whether this one is original or aftermarket. Neither the promotion page nor the rules say what the tune is.

The rules describe the prize as a 2007 Subaru Impreza STI with "approximately 138,000 miles" and put its approximate retail value at $17,000.

Why it matters

The GD-chassis STI ran from 2004 to 2007 in the US, and the 2006–07 Hawkeye cars were its last iteration: a 2.5-liter turbocharged EJ257 flat-four rated at 293 hp from the factory, a six-speed manual, a driver-controlled center differential and Brembo brakes, in a sedan body with a functional hood scoop and a wing you can see from a block away. For 2008 Subaru replaced it with the GR-chassis hatchback, which is a big part of why tidy GD sedans now have a following of their own.

At 138,000 miles on a tuned car, history matters more than the badge. Tuned EJ257s are known for ringland and rod-bearing failures, and head gaskets, the clutch, the rear differential and rear-quarter rust are the usual GD inspection points. Neither the promotion page nor the rules give a service history.

The fine print worth knowing

  • Mileage and value. The marketing pages call it a 2007 Subaru STI; the rules add the odometer, "approximately 138,000 miles", and an ARV of $17,000. No cash alternative is printed, and the sponsor keeps the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.
  • Not open in four states. The rules apply "excluding residents of Alaska, Florida, Hawaii and New York", and entrants must be 18 or the age of majority in their state.
  • As-is, and the winner may have to collect it. The car comes as-is with no warranty, and the rules warn it may not pass smog, emissions or safety testing in some states. The promotion page says "After all appropriate paperwork is completed, prize is delivered (up to 30 days after winner is notified)". The rules say the winner may need to show proof of insurance and "pick up vehicle as directed by Sponsor", and they put title, license, insurance and registration fees, taxes, and any travel and transportation costs to collect the car on the winner. Taking delivery requires "proof of a valid USA driver’s license" from your home state.
  • Respond fast. A potential winner who can't be reached or doesn't follow notification instructions "within twenty-four (24) hours" of the first attempt can be disqualified. The eligibility affidavit, which asks for your Social Security Number, is due "within seven (7) days". The prize is taxable income, reported on an IRS Form 1099 at its value.
  • How entries work. On the Regular Cars storefront in October 2026, $49 buys one entry (a digital wallpaper, or a collectible mug or tag plus shipping), $79 buys five and $99 buys ten. The rules' base rate is one entry per purchase, rising to five to ten entries per purchase during Bonus Entry Periods the sponsor announces. A social-post entry (one per person) means posting a photo of the purchased collectible, so it isn't a free route. The free route is by mail: a hand-printed 3x5 card postmarked by October 26 and received by October 31, 2026, and "Each mail-in entry received will be worth one (1) Sweepstakes entry". The rules print no cap on mail-in entries.
  • The drawing. "The Grand Prize drawing will be conducted on or about November 2, 2026". The rules say an Administrator runs it but don't name one; the promotion page says "A random winner is selected by our third-party sweepstakes company, American-Sweeps.com". Disputes go to New Jersey courts under New Jersey law, on an individual basis only (no class actions).

Why It's Special

A 2006–07 Hawkeye GD STI: the last model years of the GD sedan before the 2008 GR-chassis hatchback. Every US car used the EJ257 turbo flat-four, a six-speed manual and a driver-controlled center differential.

Our value estimate

$17,000

Anchored to the sponsor's stated ARV of $17,000 for a 2007 Impreza STI with approximately 138,000 miles. Hawkeye-era (2006–07) STIs split sharply by condition: low-mile, unmodified cars bring well above this, while high-mile, modified examples trade well below it. Recent public sold results for US cars in the 124,000–152,000-mile band are too sparse to build three clean comps, so the estimate holds to the sponsor's figure. The tune is unspecified and no service history is published; engine, clutch and rust condition would move the number either way.
