What you're looking at
The 2021 Panther Edition was Audi's way of introducing the rear-wheel-drive R8 to America, and unlike most send-off specials it had an actual engineering point. Pull the quattro hardware out of a V10 R8 and you get 532 hp and 398 lb-ft going exclusively to the back tires through a seven-speed S tronic — 3.6 seconds to 60, 201 mph, and a car that behaves nothing like the all-wheel-drive version it's based on. Thirty were built for the US, every one in Panther Black with crimson red Nappa shell seats, black 20s with red accents, and a sport exhaust as standard. Sticker was $186,495.
SpeedEFX then went at this one. The factory Panther Black now lives under Sea Foam Green ARMR paint protection film — a genuine color change, though a reversible one, which matters more than it sounds. Underneath sits a full Maxton Design aero kit including their CyberWing, Avant Garde wheels, H&R springs, aFe intakes and a Soul Performance exhaust. The Panther Edition's red buckets stay put, joined by added carbon and custom door jambs. No dyno figure is published for the intake-and-exhaust package, so treat 532 hp as the honest number.
Why it matters
The R8 died in 2024 with no replacement, and with it went the last naturally aspirated V10 in a mainstream supercar. No turbos, no hybrid assist, no cylinder deactivation — just 8,700 rpm and a Lamborghini-derived engine sitting behind your head under glass. The rear-drive cars are the enthusiast's pick of the range precisely because they gave up the traction crutch, and they're the rarer half of an already limited run.
Be clear-eyed about what the modifications do to the collector case, though. Value in a 1-of-30 car concentrates in factory-correct spec, and a wrap plus bolt-ons generally doesn't add to a hammer price — it narrows the buyer pool. The saving grace is that all of it unwinds: peel the film, refit stock wheels and springs, and the Panther Black car is still under there. Service is the other reality. The dry-sump V10 is robust but not cheap to maintain, and an S tronic clutch pack is real money.
The fine print worth knowing
Entry runs through merchandise purchases at roughly one entry per dollar, multiplied by whatever bonus period is running — currently 200X on most items and 400X on a few. The cheapest item granting entries is a $17 pair of socks at 3,400 entries. There is a genuine free route: a hand-printed 3x5 card mailed to the sweepstakes PO Box, worth fifty entries before any bonus multiplier, with the full requirements printed in the Official Rules and reproduced on this page.
Speed Society Inc. of Oceanside, California is the named sponsor, and American Sweepstakes & Promotion Co., Inc. of Rochester, New York administers the drawing — an outside firm, not the operator marking its own homework. Entries close at 9:00:00 p.m. PDT on September 18, 2026, with the drawing on or about September 28.
Two things to read carefully before you spend. First, the giveaway page and site footer both say residents of Canada outside Quebec may enter, while the operative eligibility clause in the Official Rules limits the sweepstakes to legal residents of the USA and contains no Canadian provisions at all. Second, the rules tell mail-in entrants to write 80x, 100x, 150x or 200x on the envelope, but the store is currently selling 400X bundles — so the free route's ceiling and the paid route's ceiling don't line up. And the usual tax note: a $180,000 prize is ordinary income in the year you receive it, which is a large check to write against a car you haven't sold. The $100,000 cash option exists partly for that reason.

Why It's Special
The Panther Edition was Audi's 2021 launch special for the rear-drive R8 in the United States: 30 cars, all Panther Black, all with crimson red Nappa shell seats, 20-inch black wheels with red accents and a sport exhaust as standard. It stickered at $186,495 including destination and gas guzzler tax. R8 production ended in 2024 with no successor, so the naturally aspirated 5.2L V10 is a closed chapter — this is one of the last, and rarest, ways into it.
Our value estimate
$160,000
Speed Society's Official Rules put the 2021 Audi R8 at an approximate retail value of $160,000, with the $20,000 cash listed separately for a $180,000 total. We carry the $160,000 as the car alone and put the cash in extras. That figure holds up against the market. Classic.com's Type 4S V10 RWD data shows an average sale price of $159,375 across the 2020-2024 run, with a low of $104,000 for a 2020 car in July 2026; a 2021 R8 V10 RWD with 18,000 miles carried a $170,943 benchmark but failed to sell on Bring a Trailer in November 2025; and a roughly 13,200-mile 2021 V10 RWD coupe has run on Cars & Bids. Retail asking prices sit in the $162,000-$184,000 band, but asks are not sales. Two forces pull against each other here. Being 1 of 30, off a $186,495 sticker, supports a premium over a standard V10 RWD. Against that, this car has been comprehensively modified — Maxton aero, aftermarket wheels and springs, and a Sea Foam Green film over the signature Panther Black — and on a limited-run collector car, modifications and a color change generally do not add to a sale price and narrow the buyer pool. Everything done here is reversible, which limits the damage. Those two forces roughly cancel, so the sponsor's ARV is a fair place to land. One real caveat: the odometer is not published on the giveaway page or in the rules, and on this car mileage would move the number materially — a 5,000-mile example and a 35,000-mile example are tens of thousands of dollars apart. We anchored to the stated ARV rather than assume a low-mileage car. For calibration, the winner may take $100,000 cash instead of the $180,000 package, which is the operator's own read on quick-sale value.
