The build: a first-gen W250 getting the works

FFSG8 is Far From Stock's eighth giveaway, and it's a 1992 Dodge Ram W250 single cab from the tail end of Dodge's first-generation Ram, the trucks that put the 5.9-liter 12-valve Cummins on the map. The official rules list the prize as "1992 1st Gen Dodge Ram Single Cab. 1000 HP 12V Cummins Engine. + $10,000" and put the whole package's approximate retail value at $85,000. The giveaway page values the truck alone at $75K.

It isn't finished yet. The page says "We are currently building a custom W250 just for you." The plan centers on a stroked 12-valve the spec sheet bills as "First Ever 12 valve engine (stroker class Holding 1,000 HP)" (the paragraph above it calls it "the 3rd ever FFS 12 Valve Engine"), fed by a P-pump and a GTR turbo. Behind it: Randy's 47/48RE automatic with a full manual valve body, a manual 4WD conversion and a new driveshaft. Underneath: Dana 60 / 3rd-gen axles on an FFS 4-link with an FFS track bar, front coils, a rear air kit and FFS traction bars with a re-link kit, rolling on Mickey Thompson wheels and tires. Outside, the listed paint is "Pearl Oak Porsche Green Metalic" with a gold pinstripe, plus AMP steps and smoked lights. Inside, custom bucket seats, a new fabricated dash, a manual stick upgrade and a new cup-holder and stereo bay. The spec sheet still asks "What else would you like to see?", so the list may change, and the finished truck may not match the photos the operator is using today.

Why it matters, and what to check

A factory 12-valve made around 160 hp. People love the first-gen Cummins because the mechanical P-pump and the overbuilt bottom end take fuel and boost like few engines do, and four-digit 12-valves do exist at the sled-pull and drag-strip end of the hobby. Read the wording, though: the page says this stroker "will hold at minimum 1,000 horses," which describes what the engine is built to handle. It isn't a dyno result, and the page doesn't include a dyno sheet. Mileage isn't stated either.

The usual first-gen reality checks apply, and some matter more at this power level. The 47RE/48RE automatic is the weak link on a high-horsepower Cummins. A full manual valve body means you pick every gear yourself. A big single turbo won't feel like a stock truck in traffic. First-gen cabs rust at the cab corners, rockers and floors, so ask what was repaired during what the FAQ calls "our 92 W250 1st Gen Dodge Ram Frame off build." Plan on insurance and registration for a one-off. On track record, the giveaway page lists named winners for FFSG1 through FFSG6 with handover videos. The rules name the sponsor, Far From Stock LLC of Junction City, Ohio, and an administrator, Game of Chance Sweepstakes LLC of Layton, Utah.

The fine print worth knowing

The cash option is a third of the ARV, paid over a year. The tax basis stays at the full ARV. The rules say: "The winner may elect to receive a cash alternative equal to one-third (1/3) of the stated ARV of the prize to be paid out over a 12 month period." Against the $85,000 ARV, that's about $28,333, spread over 12 months. The rules then add: "The winner will receive an IRS Form 1099 reflecting the ARV of the prize, and taxes shall be based on the ARV regardless of whether the cash alternative is selected." In plain numbers, a winner who takes the cash would get a 1099 for $85,000 while receiving about $28,333.

Pickup, paperwork and conditions. "The prize must be picked up at a location designated by the Sponsor unless otherwise agreed in writing, and must be claimed and accepted on or before 12/20/2026, or it may be forfeited." Title, license, registration and insurance costs are the winner's, and the prize comes as-is. A potential winner has ten business days to respond. The rules also say: "Sponsor reserves the right to conduct a background check on any potential winner and may disqualify any individual if, in its sole discretion, awarding the prize to such individual could reflect negatively on the Sponsor." Because the truck is still being built, the substitution clause carries extra weight: "Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if the advertised prize becomes unavailable." Disputes go to binding arbitration in Utah, and entrants waive class actions.

Entering. Purchases on farfromstock.com and farfromstockstore.com earn entries. The homepage says "EVERY $1 SPENT = AUTOMATIC ENTRIES," and entry packs start at $25. The rules also list two free routes: confirming a double opt-in newsletter signup, and a once-a-day online form. The rules don't say how many entries each daily free submission earns. The free-entry page warns: "None of these entries will show in the Check Your Entries tab in the footer." The per-person cap is written as "one hundred thousand (999,999)", so the words and the numerals disagree. Entry is open to US residents 18 and over (or the age of majority), "excluding residents of Rhode Island, Minnesota."

The dates after the close don't line up. Entries close 11/10/2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. After that, the giveaway FAQ says FFSG8 "runs to 11/10/2026 when one winner will be selected at random." The rules say "On or about 11/20/2026, ten (10) finalists will be randomly selected" before a final draw, but also that "The name of the winner will be announced on or about 11/12/2026" (eight days before the finalist draw). The page says the winner is pulled live on Instagram.

Older text on the same page. Lower on the giveaway page, the legal section still prints an earlier rules block headed FFS#5 for a "1985 dodge w350" with a spring 2026 entry window. There's also a "SPEC SHEET 88 SUBURBAN" build list from the previous giveaway. The rules behind the page's VIEW RULES button are headed FFS#8 and match this giveaway's dates and prize.

Why It's Special

First-generation Dodge Rams picked up the 5.9-liter Cummins 12-valve in 1989, and that pairing is the foundation of today's diesel-truck scene. This one is a one-off Far From Stock frame-off build rather than a factory-correct survivor, which is the point.

Our value estimate

$75,000

Anchored to the operator's own figure. The official rules put the total prize ARV at $85,000 including the + $10,000, which leaves $75,000 for the truck, the same $75K build value the giveaway page prints. No public sale of a comparable 1,000-hp frame-off first-gen turned up. Recent auctions of stock or lightly modified first-gen W250 Cummins trucks are a different market: a lifted 1992 W250 Cummins 4x4 drew a high bid of $11,300 on Hagerty Marketplace (July 2026), a 1992 W250 Cummins Club Cab $26,250 (Hagerty Marketplace, July 2025), and a modified 1990 W250 Cummins went unsold at $18,500 (February 2024). The gap up to $75,000 is the build itself: stroked engine, turbo, transmission, axles, suspension, paint and interior. That build is still under way. Mileage is unstated, and the page doesn't include a dyno sheet, so the finished truck's resale value is unproven, and one-off builds rarely resell for what they cost. The optional cash alternative is one-third of the $85,000 ARV (about $28,333, paid over 12 months), and the rules base the winner's 1099 on the full ARV either way.
