What you're looking at

Torque Reserve's second giveaway — badged TR-2, following the Porsche Macan S that closed out TR-1 in July — is a BMW X6 M Competition with $15,000 cash stapled to it.

The X6 M Competition is BMW M's answer to a question nobody asked and everybody bought anyway: take the coupe-roofed X6, drop in the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8, and turn it up to 617 hp and 553 lb-ft. Power runs through an eight-speed automatic into a rear-biased M xDrive system, and while BMW quotes 3.7 seconds to 60 mph, independent testing has repeatedly landed in the low threes. Torque Reserve's spec card rounds this to 620+ horsepower and "3.6s 0-60" — the first is the metric 625 PS figure, the second an optimistic stopwatch. Neither implies a modified motor; this is the factory car doing factory things.

The giveaway page never says which one it is — the car renders in JavaScript and the two TR-2 build-sheet graphics are images, so the written spec never makes it into the page copy. The official rules settle it: a 2022 BMW X6 M. What nobody publishes is the odometer or the colors.

Why it matters

There is a specific pleasure in a 5,400-pound SUV that shrinks around you. The X6 M hides its mass better than physics should allow — the active anti-roll setup, the enormous contact patch, and a chassis that BMW M genuinely engineered rather than badge-engineered. It will out-accelerate most sports cars its owners will ever pull alongside, tow a boat on Saturday, and do the school run without complaint.

It is also the end of a line. BMW M's SUV strategy has moved toward electrified powertrains, and the twin-turbo V8 in this thing is the last of its kind in the X6 body. That's the part worth caring about a decade from now.

Be honest about the running costs, though. Staggered 21/22-inch tires, brakes sized for the speeds this thing reaches, and a hot-vee V8 that asks for real maintenance money mean this is not a cheap car to own once the novelty wears off. And mileage is still the open question: a 2022 X6 M books between roughly $56,000 and $68,000, so whether this one shows 20,000 miles or 70,000 swings the prize by the better part of $16,000. The operator does not publish the odometer.

The fine print worth knowing

Entries are sold two ways. Instant-entry bundles run $50 for 12,500 entries, $125 for 31,250, and $250 for 62,500 — a flat 250 entries per dollar across all three, so there's no volume discount, just a bigger number. Merch earns half that rate at 125 entries per dollar, which puts the cheapest paid buy-in at $20 for a can cooler and 2,500 entries. The entry counts printed next to each item match those advertised multipliers exactly.

The free route is real and, unusually, it scales. A hand-printed 3x5 card mailed to the sponsor's Oyster Bay address is worth 20 entries — and if you post it during one of the bonus periods and hand-write the multiplier on the back of the envelope, it is worth between 40 and 5,000. That matters, because it means the free entrant rides the same 250x multipliers the paying entrant does rather than being left behind at a fixed number. Cards must be postmarked by October 25 and received by October 29, hand-printed by you, and mailed one per envelope.

Entry closes 10/25/26 at 11:59 PM, with the winner announced within one to two weeks after the deadline. Torque Reserve does name its TR-1 winner publicly, which is more than a lot of operators bother with. Its claim to be 3rd party administered checks out, too — the official rules name Wynning Promotions of 420 Lexington Avenue, New York as the administrator running the drawing, which is on or about November 3.

Finally, taxes. The rules put the package ARV at $87,000, all of which is ordinary income to the winner, and the $15,000 attached to it will cover a chunk of that federal bill but not all of it — plan on writing a check, or on selling the car. The vehicle is delivered "AS IS," and you will need a valid US driver's licence to take it.

Why It's Special

The X6 M Competition sits at the top of BMW's coupe-SUV tree and represents the V8 high-water mark for the F96 body — a 4.4-liter twin-turbo M engine in a car BMW sells in a small fraction of standard X6 numbers. With BMW M's SUV lineup moving toward electrified powertrains, a V8 X6 M reads more like a bookend every year.

Our value estimate

$72,000

Torque Reserve's official rules put the total Approximate Retail Value of the package at $87,000, and the package is the car plus a $15,000 cash award — so the operator values the vehicle itself at roughly $72,000, which is the anchor used here. Knowing the model year changes the picture: the rules name a 2022 BMW X6 M, and 2022 cars are the softest part of this market. Edmunds values a 2022 X6 M between $55,909 and $67,788, and Kelley Blue Book puts trade-in on a 2023 at average mileage near $60,400. Retail asks run higher — a 2023 with 42,599 miles listed at $79,800 and a 31,458-mile 2023 Competition car at $89,999 — and a new 2026 Competition starts at $134,600, but neither of those is what is being given away. So $72,000 sits at or slightly above the top of the book range for a 2022, which is reasonable for a clean low-mileage retail example and generous for a well-used one. The odometer is not published anywhere, and on this car it is the single biggest variable: the same 2022 could honestly be worth $56,000 or $72,000 depending on whether it shows 20,000 miles or 70,000. Ask before valuing it precisely.
