What you're looking at

Dvniemela's latest storefront drop sells "Honda NSX" entry packs, posters and merch. The binding document is more specific. The Official Rules for the October Sweepstakes, run by sponsor Vasyn LLC through the dvniemela.com shop, say the winner gets "their choice of either a 1991 Acura NSX OR a $30,000 cash/check award." So the prize is a first-year NSX, and you can take the cash instead.

The two names describe the same car. In North America Honda sold the NSX under its Acura brand, and everywhere else it was a Honda. Many U.S. owners have since re-badged their cars as Hondas. The store's photos show a black NSX. Beyond the year and model printed in the rules, the store lists no mileage, transmission, title status or modification list. That's why the spec sheet here stays short.

Why it matters

The NSX was Honda's attempt to build an exotic you could live with. It has an aluminum monocoque body and chassis, and a mid-mounted 3.0-liter VTEC V6 that revs to 8,000 rpm. Ayrton Senna famously helped with the chassis development. In factory form the 1991 car made 270 hp with the 5-speed manual and 252 hp with the 4-speed automatic. 1991 was the model's first year on sale in the U.S. Good examples now change hands for well above the sponsor's $40,000 figure (see the value notes).

On a 35-year-old NSX, what's under the paint matters more than the badge:

  • Early 5-speeds have a known snap-ring weakness.
  • Original NA1 engine computers are prone to leaking capacitors.
  • Timing-belt service history is worth asking about.
  • Aluminum body repair is specialist work.

None of that is documented for this car, and the rules make no promises about it (more below).

The fine print worth knowing

Car or cash. The winner chooses between the car and a $30,000 cash/check award. The rules set the Grand Prize ARV at $40,000. The rules also say: "If the actual value of a Prize is lower than the stated ARV when the Prize is procured and fulfilled, then the difference will not be awarded." The sponsor keeps the usual right: it "reserves the right at its sole discretion to substitute the Prize with another prize of equal or greater value."

The car comes as-is. The rules deliver the prize "AS IS" and disclaim any warranty, "including but not limited to its quality, mechanical condition or fitness for a particular purpose." They also warn: "Prize vehicle may not meet safety or emissions testing required in some states and/or counties." The winner covers the rest: "The Winner will be responsible for all optional equipment, title, license, insurance and registration fees required in claiming the vehicle, applicable taxes, as well as, all other expenses relating to the use of vehicle." The winner may have to show insurance and "pick up vehicle as directed by Sponsor." Two more conditions apply: "The Winner must have proof of a valid USA driver’s license from his/her state of residence to take delivery of vehicle," and "The Winner must transfer title officially with their state DMV within ten (10) days of accepting the Prize."

Taxes. Per the rules, "the value of the accepted Prize is taxable as income, and an IRS Form 1099 will be filed in the name of the Winner for the value of the Prize." In plain numbers, taking the car means a 1099 at the prize's stated value, and taking the cash means a 1099 for $30,000.

Claiming it. The potential winner must return, "within seven (7) days of the date of notice or attempted notice is sent, an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability & Publicity in order to claim the Prize." That affidavit asks for a Social Security number. A winner who "does not comply with notification instructions within three (3) business days from the first notification attempt" can be disqualified. Disputes go to Washington State courts, and they "shall be resolved individually without resort to any form of class action."

Entering. Purchases on the store earn "one (1) entry into the Sweepstakes for every three (3) whole dollars spent." The cheapest item is the $3 Honda NSX Digital Download, which carries one entry, and every pack on the store follows the same $3-per-entry math. There's also a free mail-in route, hand-printed on a 3x5 card, and the full text is on this page. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by November 2, 2026, and received by November 7. "Each mail-in entry received will be worth three (3) Sweepstakes entries." Entry is open to legal residents of the U.S., D.C. and Canada who are 18 or older (or the age of majority in their state or province).

The drawing. The potential winner will be "selected in a random drawing conducted by the Administrator," American Sweepstakes & Promotion Co. of Rochester, N.Y. "The Prize drawing will be conducted on or about November 9, 2026." Winner details can be requested by mail, with a self-addressed stamped envelope sent by December 14, 2026.

Why It's Special

1991 was the NSX's first model year in the U.S., where Honda sold it as an Acura; outside North America the same car was badged Honda. First-generation NA1 cars are the most common NSXs, but clean early examples are sought after.

Our value estimate

$40,000

Anchored to the sponsor's own number: the Official Rules set the Grand Prize ARV at $40,000, with a $30,000 cash alternative. That is well below recent 1991 NSX sales. A modified, 97,400-mile 1991 5-speed sold for $72,760 on Hagerty Marketplace in July 2026. A 1991 car sold for $100,800 in an online auction in April 2026, and a 9,000-mile 1991 example brought $137,500 at Mecum Kissimmee in January 2026. Hagerty's guide puts a good-condition car around $65,900. Dvniemela lists no mileage, transmission, title status or build list for this car, and any of those could explain the gap, so we stay with the sponsor's $40,000 rather than the market figures.
